Our Search Process

The following is a brief description of how we conduct a typical search assignment:

  1. Develop an Understanding of the Organization
We will visit with the hiring manager and key individuals within the management team to understand the history, structure and operations of the organization. We will review relevant documents including compensation and benefit data, job description, annual reports, service literature and organization charts. It is our desire to be quite knowledgeable about the organization prior to discussing the position with prospective candidates.
  2. Develop a Position Specification
A draft position specification will be developed based upon our discussions. The position specification describes the basic responsibilities, title, reporting relationships, compensation, education and experience required to meet your desired performance criteria. The position specification will be reviewed with you and will serve as a guide in determining whom we will contact during the course of the search. This document forms the foundation of the engagement. Your executives’ involvement and input is important to ensure a complete description.
  3. Identify Qualified Candidates
A search to locate persons with qualifications that closely match your requirements will be initiated immediately. It is our practice to research appropriate organizations to locate individuals who meet the position specification and who have demonstrated patterns of accomplishment and success in positions which closely match your requirements. We will contact these individuals as well as those from our proprietary data processing system and other confidential files on a direct inquiry basis. The process is designed to yield a number of qualified candidates to compare and evaluate competitively against each other. Typically we will present profiles of a number of potential candidates within 30 days for your review and comment.
  4. Interview Candidates to Define Strengths/Weaknesses
After review of the profiles, the most qualified and interested candidates will be personally interviewed to obtain a realistic understanding of their accomplishments, capabilities and potential. Candidates are further evaluated to determine any limitations they would bring to the position. We will present a report to you describing the past work experience and education for each candidate whom we recommend you interview.
  5. Present Best Qualified Candidates to Management
The final two or more individuals best qualified for this position will be presented for consideration. As we understand it, the initial meeting will be followed by additional in-depth interviews, as appropriate, to select the candidate who best satisfies the needs of the position. The final selection and offer of employment are usually made by the client. Robin Russell L.L.C. will provide a representation of the candidates’ compensation profile and will be available to assist you in negotiating the appropriate compensation and all other aspects of completing your employment offer.
  6. Conduct Reference Checks on Successful Candidates
It is our practice to speak directly with individuals who are, or have been, in positions to evaluate the candidate's performance on the job. We rely upon the information provided to us by those individuals. We also verify university degrees. Confidential written references summarizing our findings from the information provided by third parties will be presented on the final candidate, or those to whom an offer of employment is made. To protect a candidate's confidentiality, reference checks are generally performed only after you have expressed a strong interest in a particular candidate.
